Garnet Sand
Dense, hard abrasive for blasting and waterjet cutting.
Garnet sand is a good abrasive, and a common replacement for silica sand in sand blasting. Garnet sand is a good abrasive, and a common replacement for silica sand in sand blasting. Alluvial garnet grains which are rounder are more suitable for such blasting treatments. Mixed with very high-pressure water, garnet is used to cut steel and other materials in water jets. Garnets are a group of silicate minerals that have been used since the Bronze Age as gemstones and abrasives. All species of garnets possess similar physical properties and crystal forms but differ in chemical composition. The different species are pyrope, almandine, spessartine, grossular, uvarovite and andradite.

Applications
Where garnet sand goes to work.

Sand Blasting
Garnet sand is widely used as an abrasive for surface preparation, cleaning, and coating removal. Its hardness and low dust generation provide efficient and safe blasting performance.

Bentonite
Garnet sand can be used alongside bentonite in specialized industrial and filtration applications where durability and density are required.

Agriculture
Used in soil conditioning and filtration systems to support effective water drainage and improve soil structure.

Foundries
Used in foundry moulds and casting for its thermal stability and resistance to metal penetration. Garnet sand helps achieve smoother casting surfaces and accurate mould shapes.

Drilling
Applied in waterjet cutting and drilling operations for its hardness and abrasive properties, enhancing cutting efficiency.

Gardens
Used in landscaping and garden decoration to improve visual appeal and drainage. Its natural color and durability make it suitable for decorative outdoor applications.
